U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Enrollment Kit

I Want You

The membership process for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary consists of the following steps:

1.   Email the Flotilla 24-11 Human Resources Officer (FSO-HR) to express your interest, and to visit a flotilla meeting.

2.   Complete the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Enrollment Application, and be fingerprinted by an Auxiliary-approved technician.  The Enrollment Application includes a simple security questionnaire for the normal, or "Operational Security" (OS) clearance level, which all Auxiliarists have completed.  Applicants may complete the entire application in advance, except that it must be signed only in the presence of the fingerprint technician.  Flotilla Commanders or their designee can arrange for the fingerprinting appointment.

3.   Carefully study the New Member Reference Guide.

4.   As an additional study aid, the 21-page New Member Exam Study Guide should be examined as well.

5.   After studying, the applicant should arrange to take the multiple-choice New Member Examination in front of a designated proctor from your prospective flotilla.  You may also bring in the New Member Exam Blank Answer Sheet [CG-4886] but no markings may be made on either document in advance.

The Flotilla Commander will then submit the entire package, consisting of Application, Fingerprint Card, and Exam Score Sheet to the Director of Auxiliary (DIRAUX) for processing.  All applicants will ultimately receive a confirming letter from the DIRAUX, and when appropriate, a membership number and additional information.

While waiting for your acceptance, you should glance through the 9-page New Member Handbook.

If you have any questions, contact any Flotilla Commander or Flotilla Staff Officer - Human Resources (FSO-HR).
